Cross your fingers for an epiphanous moment.

Today was probably the thousandth time daydreams of USC and LA ran through my head. Once again I sat in the backseat of the car fuming at my dad for insisting I live in a climate clearly dissonant from my tastes and lose the only college dream I ever had in high school. But this time I've had enough; I can't keep wasting time on old daydreams or ( Read more... )

i am so glad that you're figuring things out, asra. i truly think that msu is underrated in a lot of ways. sure, we have a party scene, but there is so much else to this campus. i know for me personally, there are a lot more options here than other schools. there's good research and study abroad, and lots of extracurricular activity choices, and the classes are good. i'm really glad to hear this from you though, that you've come to terms with things. :)

Hey, I know haven't bothered you in a long time, but I want to say that the reason why UM doesn't have as many rhode/whatev scholars is because they don't help kids or promote it at all. It's actually been a minor issue in the school news lately ( ... )

Hmmm. I don't know. I thought I explained my MSU/USC reasoning but it's been a tough semester (although I've heard this from other ADS kids that their first semester experience was similar, it's what comes after that makes the difference ( ... )

I definitely see what you're saying, and I would agree that MSU is a great school, and I'm not down-talking it at all. After all, you and eric are there aren't you? And you're right, undergraduate here is what you make of it, which I think is why I like it. Nobody will show you opportuntities, but there are a ton to be found.

Also I think that maybe neither of us can compare because we haven't been to both schools. Profs here are awesome though, so no worry about being paid attention to in class. If you have a question, or go in to talk to them, they're always super attentive. I think it's just that they make no effort to hold your hand.

And I think all first semesters are hard for everyone :-)

Personally I don't think Umich reputation is only its grad schools, but I'm a little biased so who knows? Haha.

Off to physics for me-

Good luck with physics!

Do you know anything of premed requirements? Are you still prevet or am I crazy? I'm so confused with premed requirements because if it means I have to take more physics past what I took in high school I might shoot myself. Physics majors on my floor seem always on the brink of suicide. Well not really, but they have fully inhabited the study lounges.

Eh, I was generalizing too. UMich has a good undergrad, but its graduate schools are phenomenal.

I'm hungry. BYe dude.
