There was something about this that was so incredibly easy that when I got into Wesley’s car - destination Santa Monica - I almost forgot about everything else. I’d changed a lot these last few years but shopping was still so very much my thing and when I thought of all the things that I could be buying, some of the other stuff just seemed to melt away…
I was shoppingOkay, so I was still a little shallow. I consoled myself with thoughts that I was helping my friends, that I was saving the lives of Alicia and Marilee who would no doubt grow up to be fashion-sense-less victims without the help of Aunty Cordy… But truth be told? I was having fun

It’s the whole family now… new and improved with the addition of Cordelia’s fashion sense and ability to keep the girls smiling even when certain skirts find their way back onto the shelf… and maybe I’m an easier man to please than I once thought. With our bank account creeping down to pennies and Wolfram & Hart dogging our every move, I’m still pretty sure that this is one of the happier moments I’ve had in my life. Turns out that I didn’t need that corner office in the sky after all.
(There’s got to be some sort of universal balance in that. I gain a bit of perspective; Angel loses his entirely…)
That’s not even getting into the good influence Cordelia obviously has on Wes. The usual sarcastic commentary is nowhere to be found and he’s smiling. In a mall. I could kiss the man…
“You need a haircut,” he tells me, in response to what I assume was my slightly love-struck grin. Oh well

Watching Wesley - your previously ungay friend - ruffling the hair of his now very gay and formerly evil boyfriend is, I'll admit, kind of strange. I think I'm getting used to it though because these public displays of affection on them are kind of cute, so I just grin and go back to helping with the shopping
