A lot has happened in the past two months since my last post.
Where to begin?
The biggest news is that I am once again unemployed. Yes, Lee decided that my services were no longer required at the store he barely visits himself. When the general manager, Mark, was letting me go he said that Lee told him not to tell me the actual reason why I was being terminated. I think it may have something to do with a minor practical joke at Lee's expense at
SiliCon... in which case Lee is being a little bitch and a coward for not having the balls to fire me himself. Anyway, I've been taking the week off to enjoy not having to work in almost two years, but my plan is to put everything I have into finding a better job, primarily in the monetary compensation area. I will not do what I did last time and sit around the house for six months. I just won't. I respect

Gwynne way too much for one thing, and I really need the money for all the shiny DVDs coming in the next few months... not to mention some kind of MP3 player. The iPod Gwynnie got is so niiiice... but I digress.
Speaking of Gwynne, we have been getting along really well lately. She's been supportive, loving, generous, and I am really glad to have her in my life. We're pretty much back together, but we know there's always the option of letting go later, so for now we're enjoying our togetherness. It was a really nice weekend and yesterday since I got to spend those days with her.
I met some nice people at SiliCon, one of whom convinced me to try a massage a trois...
So I did go to SiliCon. The plan, last I had heard before the con started, was that I'd be Mercury Runner Second. Merc Runners are basically SiliCon's equivalent of gofers. The guy who was supposed to be in charge of runners, Ray King, hadn't shown up for any of the meetings, and there was even a chance that I'd be heading that department, but I was quite content with being second. At any rate I got to the hotel on Thursday evening, earlier than pretty much everyone, and eventually ran into Faith... someone I knew had been a runner in the past. We quickly figure out that we'd both been told we were second. I told her that I'd be happy to let her have the position as she'd had more experience, and all is well. Then Grant (co-chair of SiliCon) comes up and asks me if I would take dealer's room as the guy who was supposed to be doing that wasn't able to make it all three days. Of course I say yes since I'm wanting to help where I can, and thus my baptism under fire started. Fortunately I had help from one of the dealers, the guy who runs
Super-con in Hayward. He made sure all of the dealers got what they wanted table-wise. At some point during the con enough people had had trouble getting a hold of me that I was asked to wear a walkie talkie (as seen in the pic above). It seemed like there was always something to do... whether it was make a dealer happy, or squeeze in some sleep and food/drink. I had more compliments than complaints, so I would probably do dealer's room again in the future if I was asked. I got to see
the film festival, and one film in particular stood out for me... one called "
Criticized". It will make you fear paperclips. Check out the trailer:

There were a few other good films, but like I said that one stuck with me. I got to meet the director (Richard Gale) and one of the stars (Brian Rohan, the guy with the paperclip), which was cool. I had some absinthe (or a close facsimile) served as a sample by

Johanna, which was pretty much the only alcohol I had during the con. Met
Jim Mahfood. Made some friends, caught up with old ones. All in all I had a blast.
In movie news I have seen "
Across The Universe" ( a great movie, especially if you're a fan of The Beatles) , I now own the live action "Transformers" on DVD (with the nifty transforming Optimus Prime case), and I have plans to see "
30 Days of Night" as a special screening tonight at the Mercado thanks to

Al. In T.V. news I have been watching Heroes, Bionic Woman, Smallville, Flash Gordon, Drawn Together, Futurama... more T.V. than I used to watch in a long time. And Lost and BSG haven't even come back yet!
In computer news I have changed the look and feel of my OS to Windows Vista. Notice I didn't say I changed the OS itself... I wouldn't do that. But Vista is so fucking pretty! Yay for
customization packs!
