There's nothing wrong with popcorn for dinner every now and again. And he ASKED for it. There was no way to say no, really.

I think if he asked for it clearly, then by God, he ought to have it.

Meh, why not? I think that people, even children, want what their bodies need- though children do lack some self awareness in that department and sometimes need coaxing in order to develop a taste for all sorts of things.

Yesterday my friend was saying that last year his two year old was into the vegetables but this year all he wants is carbs and protein which, in their vegetarian house, means pita and hummus. Their pediatrician said it was fine and that some of it might be him asserting his independence.

Maybe with Samuel and Dixon's cases their appetites related to growth spurts or lack thereof.

I'd only call CPS for the OTHER things you do to your children. ;)

Not calling CPS. When my friend was told that eating Spaghetti-Os for dinner every night wasn't healthy for her eight-year-old, she said, "Neither is turning dinner into a battlefield."

She cut up fruit in his cereal at breakfast and made sure he got a healthy lunch. And she figured having an enjoyable dinner with the whole family every night was a priority. Even if he wanted only Spaghetti-Os ngith after night.

She is a GREAT mother. As are you.
