NEKOCON FRIDAY, SAT. MORN: Sing and SQUEE!

Nov 03, 2007 12:36

First of all, the SQUEE moment. This goes especially for tomoe_daeva....

Troy Baker, the English voice of Frank Archer in FMA, had a wonderful panel this morning, and he was thrilled to get Daeva's sketches I printed out for him. He'll have fun with those pictures, I'm sure. :)

As for Friday, all I have to say is, "Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear... Sing, sing a song!" We had a BIG turnout for Karaoke this year with 27 entrants, and some of them was for their first time. We kept telling them, "Don't be nervous, you'll do great!" And it was a great show this year. I sang "We Are" from One Piece again, sort of in celebration of FUNimation rescuing the show from 4Kids this year.

After karaoke, Brandon, Kara, Big Danny T, and a whole bunch of other people decided to hit up Olive Garden for dinner. Just as I was getting into Big Danny T's car, I ran into someone I haven't seen in ages -- Mikal aka PIE! dragon21888 He was on his way to Virginia Beach when he just decided to drop by and see who's there. I had Pie join us for dinner, and we all had a great time there, closing down Olive Garden. We all shared a lot of different "silly drunk" stories, including Pie's "raver moment" from AMA 2004 and my own "I'm doing the DDR steps for 'Kyle's Mom's a Bitch!'" moment from 2002. It was so ridiculously fun.

Afterwards, I hit the dance, and I ran into a lot more people -- a lot of them have actually seen me over the past few years at other conventions, most notably AMA and Katsucon. I also ran into the security head of Anime USA, and he's there just to have fun. He had a LOT of fun, apparently, at the dance, with the help of a lot of alcohol, heheheh :) He was going on and on about how he wants the cosplay chess match to happen, and all the things that happen with pieces capture pieces. Think about that live chess game from "History of the World, Part I" and you'd have a closely-accurate way of how he wants it to go. :) The dance went great and I actually learned a couple new steps or two. Amazin', innit? :)

Turns out that Travis Willingham could not make it to Neko at the last minute - almost literally. He had to take a later flight, and then between that flight and the one before it, he got a call and found out he'd been cast in another show, and that he'd have to come in this weekend to work on it. So, Roy Mustang will not be here for Neko. It makes me sad, but only for a little bit. There's more stuff to do today!!!!!!!
