OTP

Here's the thing.

We all talk about OTP. Some people fairly loosely. Some people say they have many different OTPs. Cheating bastards.

(I will make allowances for people active in many fandoms. So green_grrl can have two OTPs if she wants - J/D and V/O! *ducks ( Read more... )

Am not smug. Am not am not am not.

I am SO smug!

I don't know why it's J/D, but they are PURE for me. Anybody else in SG-1, SG:A, Lotrips... smoosh 'em up and make 'em bendy with each other, I'm slutty! I'll take Cam with Teal'c, Sam OR Vala. I prefer John/Rodney, but I'll read most SG:A matchups. (Though Weir only with Zelenka, Teyla or Caldwell -- she just doesn't work with John for me.)

Lotrips is just an orgy: Sean/Vig, Sean/Orli, Sean/Vig/Orli, Vig/Orli, Vig/Liv, Orli/Liv, Vig/Orli/Liv, Sean/Billy, Sean/Dom, Dom/Billy, Sean/Lij, Orlijah, Domlijah, hobbitpile, Ian/Orli, Sean/Karl, Karl/Miranda, Sean/Miranda, Sean/Dave, Dave/Miranda, Sean/Ian... Hey, somebody give me some Sean/Bernard already, because, YEAH!

With SG-1, I think, as long as you have your characters in character, well, Jack and Daniel are the two closest to each other. They undersand each other the best. They are already intimate, emotionally, as friends, the way they aren't with anybody else. In canon. There's not a whole lot else you can do with that ( ... )

Nature takes the path of least resistance. They're a pair.

They're so made for each other. Yin/Yang. Cliche cliche. Because it's so true.

It seems like every few weeks another, once-loyal writer, abandons or neglects J/D for another pairing/fandom. There's less J/D fic all the time. Total bummer.

I am a J/D OTP devotee. (Rhyming unintentional) And am even more exited to read your fic now!

Who would have guessed?

I think you're right.

I think it hurt the writing pool when Jack left the show, plain and simple.

And as far as leaving the fandom, that's tougher. I accidentally abandoned my original fandom, and it still makes me sad, but the ideas just aren't there for me anymore. :(

I know Jack leaving made a huge difference. They've been around for a while and there's only so many time people can revisit the same episode or moment and do something fresh. Some writers just ignore the TV show aspect and insert Jack and Daniel into their story.

Rant over.

accidently? Which fandom?

I started out writing LOTR_RPS. Haven't really had a fresh idea for any of my favorite pairings or story lines in about a year. :(

OTP for meaty relationship stories, J/D. Though I think SG1 is made for orgies and team!smut.

But I've never had any really good solid OT4 plot bunnies. ... wanted to challenge myself to write a realistic story about how SG-1 might progress toward a group sexual/romantic relationship within canon, on Earth, without the weasel-out of stranding them.

If you're looking for a plot bunny, I once read a mini!Jack fic where the rest of the team cloned themselves as a show of solidarity, they bought a house together, and Jack and Sam ended up a couple with Daniel and Tealc as two single guys obsessed with high school drama club and home ec.

I was SOOOO disappointed that it wasn't "they bought a house together and became a quirky polyamorous family."
