Where are the good birthday dinner specials these days?

Jul 22, 2008 01:56

My folks used to take me to a Japanese steakhouse in Columbus, but I don't think there are any in close driving distance here.

What national chains have good deals? And preferably ones that don't do the stupid birthday song thing.

There's a Japanese hibachi place nearby (over by the SuperTarget on Randall), and they don't do the stupid birthday song thing if you don't ask them to.

Yep, that's the one. Have you been there before? I think there's a Benihana in Schaumburg too.

Nope, I take it you have?

I did a search after you mentioned it and found a few reviews. Seems to be highly rated, except for one fellow who posted the same review on several sites saying he 'wasn't impressed' but still gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

No idea if they do a birthday special, but maybe worth checking out.

But that reminds me - I need ideas from you two on good restaurants in Columbus. I'm getting a little tired of Johnny B's (and my diet doesn't allow me to enjoy it as much anyway).

I usually just do crap fast food restaurants and national chains, but since the new company guidelines give me a good per diem for dinner, but nothing for the other meals, I'm going to start splurging when I go there next.

Famous Dave's gives you a free dessert on your birthday and won't do the singing if you ask them not to (I went there 2 years ago on my birthday and was spared the humiliation). If you do go to Benihana's, they will give you a free dessert which is pretty good (I took my mom to one this year).

No problem! You'll have to post a report about where you do decide to go. Have a great Birthday on Friday! :D

Columbus, OH? Haiku is a great place to eat. And there's loads of good food at decent prices to be found at the North Market across from the convention center.

There's also La Chatelaine Bakery & Cafe in Worthington, which is down the road.

Yes, Columbus, OH - where I used to live. I'm looking for things in my neck of the woods now, NW of Chicago.

Ah. Can;t help with that then. I'm just familiar with what's all downtown.

Have a great Birfday!
