Steve! Diana! Oh my goodness, this was such a fantastic blast from the past. Just...everything was simply sweet and fun, and all the little historical touches made it fabulous. Kudos on this. It's positively heart-warming. :)

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've always had a fondness for Steve and Diana. ;)

Your icon is great! I'm still a Clex fan and I do find pix of them obviously crazy in love with each other to be fun. :)

Eek, woman, you slay me! These stories are so different from anything out there, I love all the little references and in-jokes and Silver-Age feeling so much. Diana and Steve (I still can't get used to the modern convention that Diana has no secret identity--I always think of her as Diana Prince), Clark and Linda showing up, the easy cameraderie between JFK and the heroes (I would think Kennedy would have mingled with complete unselfconsciousness with capes, just like you have him here. Nixon would be a very different story, wouldn't he?) And it's full of wonderful little touches that aren't laugh-out-loud funny but are sweetly wry.

Eartha Kitt appeared in a spotlight, garbed in a slinky
dark-blue gown and moving with cat-like grace as she sang a moving ballad. A sapphire set in a gold choker
sparkled at her throat.

*snickers with glee*

The reporter moved with enthusiasm and an
acute awareness of his body.

Bruce shared that acute awareness, just not thinking in terms of the Twist.Awww. Setting it at a time when gays would ( ... )

Thank you, dear. I do like the slip in the in-jokes and minutiae. :)

Very good insight on JFK. From what I've read, he would have been extremely comfortable with the capes. He was when interacting with astronauts, the 'superheroes' of the time, and other powerful people. He was not only well-read and intelligent but understood how to motivate people. It must have been a rush for him for all the capes to defer to him with respect. :) Oh, and you're right, Nixon wouldn't have pulled it off as well. :)

Had to get Eartha in there. ;)

I love the dreamworld scenario, too. I also love the homophobia themes, all in the spirit of trying new things!

Thanks ever so much for the feedback! I'm busy working on the next installment, the Bronze Age. Watch out for platform shoes! ;)

Wow. Like part 1, this one combines a wonderful sense of enthusiasm with a deep and growing sense of foreboding. Steve! Steve! Stay away from McNamara... He's going to ask you to be an "adviser." I can feel it.

But having Catwoman singing to Batman was delicious.

And, of course, talking about Texas and the end of 1963...

Very dense and so many things going on. Wonderfully fun to read.

Could be an advisor, yes. :) I really have to get my hands on the New Frontier volumes. The Cold War treatment in that story has me salivating, from what I've heard of it. And the Korean War got some time in those books! That's truly a Forgotten War.

Glad you liked the Cat singing to the Bat. :)

I had to get the Texas thing in there. It's like some damned Greek tragedy. The early '60s had a lot of hope and promise, and while the Cold War was still strong, people were beginning to realize after the Cuban Missile Crisis, uh, oh, if we don't start talking more, we might be blown up! Was JFK planning to remove all U.S. 'advisors' from Vietnam after the '64 election? He just might have been seriously considering it. And then of course Dallas happened.

Thanks for your comments! I love feedback! :)

Heh, I couldn't resist putting Eartha in there. She sang during LBJ's tenure and made an anti-war comment (Go, Eartha!) and got plenty of flack for it, like the Dixie Chicks a few years ago. Out of all the TV Catwomen, she's the one who sings (she had a great guest role on I Spy as a junkie torch singer) so I figured, it all fit! :)

I might be the only one out there, but I happened to *like* Steve Trevor and the Amazon Princess as lovebirds! :) Steve was often dissed but I don't know. Seems like a fairly secure guy to publicly go around with a woman who gives Superman a run for his money strength-wise.

This was excellent! I love the way you take us to another place and another time so fully. I'm not an american, so all the minute details paint a really rich picture of something I don't quite know, it's really engaging! Bruce's frustration and his hopes, it's wonderfull!

And Diana and Steve! eeep! I was just talking about Steve with my brother the other day, man, he needs to come back into continuity. He's so dashing :)

Excellent story! Much love for it!

Thank you, dear! I'm glad I can paint a picture of the American past, snapping a moment in time.

Just love Steve! :) Yes, in earlier times, very dashing!

Thank you!
