I love the voice of Billie as well, how she remains loyal to her Johnny, but still admires Purvis. I really like the motif of tea, too. The delicacy of such a refined beverage really reflects the overall atmosphere of the piece.

Thank you! I love that theme of Purvis' ambiguity about his work and will probably explore it further.

That's exactly what I was going for! That genteel afternoon tea
underscores their relationship, one of wariness but the beginning of respect, and perhaps more respect in the future, and friendship.

Thank you, Lavinia! :)
When I first saw that scene, I said to myself, ah, ha! A real gentleman! :)
I thought there might have been a meeting between the two after what we saw on-screen.

And I loved when purvis picked Billie up in the movie, he's a man of honor as John Dillinger.

I thought they might go that route. :)

I like the similarities of the two of them, and I think Billie would pick up on that. She's a smart woman. :)

I love how she, despite remaining loyal to her Johnny, sees the good person within Purvis and accepts him as a man of honour despite his role in her boyfriend's death. He was only doing his job after all.
Great job! Can't wait to read more!

I think that she recognizes the hard realities, and knows that Johnny would have tried to kill Melvin. Naturally she'd be angry and resentful at first, but I think she would gradually come to accept what happened. Just my two cents! :)

Thank you! I'm hoping to go and see the movie again today and I especially want to take mental notes for the jail scene between Johnny and Melvin. ;)
