Goodbye, Great Pumpkin! :(

Well, I just found out yesterday that It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! won't be on broadcast TV anymore. It's moved to Apple+, a streaming service. Same for A Charlie Brown Christmas.
I don't like it. The airing of these specials gives you a communal feeling. Streaming is a niche. I don't care if they're offering it free for a few days. A ( Read more... )

I heard about that. So sad. We used to go to our family's house for Thanksgiving every year (still do actually, don't know about this year), and the "kids" used to all watch it. It even sucked when they moved it back and stopped showing it on Thanksgiving but this is worse.

I know people turned to Netflix in replacement of paying for and dealing with cable (though not my family because I need my sports) but now with all the different streaming services, cable might be back to being the cheaper option!

IDK about the movie theaters. I'm not worried about them as of yet. I only go when I really want to see something in theaters because I don't feel like paying $15+ for a single ticket but I imagine that some movies will always be better on the big screen. And as long as those movies keep being made and making hundreds of millions, well, the movie theaters will still be needed by those companies.

It was a Halloween tradition! And it was broadcast so that everyone could watch it. This just sucks lemons!

I hope so. Our cable company has a monopoly here so we're paying through the nose. I hope prices go down, though I won't hold my breath!

Whoops, I read the Christmas one as Thanksgiving in my brain. XD But yeah, my sis and I used to watch It's the Great Pumpkin every year. Snoopy was always her fave. :\

If only they had released WW84 on its original release date! I think they wanted to take advantage of summer blockbuster season especially with no Marvel movies to compete with but that was clearly a bad idea. Now who knows when it is coming out. They are going to want to make sure everyone is safe and ready to go back to the theaters to make the max money and well, that doesn't seem possible in the near future. Even June 2021 is when things might *finally* start getting back to normal.

Ha, ha, I wondered about the Thanksgiving reference.

It was the dumbest decision Warner Brothers ever made, and that's saying something considering their decisions for the last few decades.

The Big 3 are getting into the act, too. There's CBS Access, and Peacock, which is free right now but once they get more popular stuff on it that's going to change.

And, yes, I've noticed that, too. There are movies that, whenever they were televised, I'd watch. Once VHS cassettes, and then DVDs came along, I bought the movies, only to have mostly just sit and gather dust.

I know. Today's Big Three are just as greedy. Sometimes progress...

Ha, I do still use my DVDs, but streaming services are going to up the prices for viewing pleasure if you have to pay for this one, for that one...

Aww, I love that show. All of the Peanuts shows, really. Sad to hear they're taking it away.
