My hopes for Donnie's presidency are that he is removed from office, preferably in handcuffs, at the earliest opportunity. That all current justices on the Supreme Court hang in there. That there are some Republicans in the Senate and Congress who will not rubber stamp everything Donnie proposes. That the American voters turn out in enormous numbers Election Day 2018 and vote out as many Republicans as possible. And that the next four years will wake people up in this country so that a debacle like this never happens again.
I was watching a Frontline documentary about him on PBS last night (prediction: all Federal funding of PBS will soon be eliminated), and it was frightening. This is a truly evil man. It's a banal evil, too, which might be even worse. He has no ideology, no vision. He just wants power for the sake of it, so he can be the biggest bully on the block.
A petty, thin-skinned narcissist is now the most powerful man in the world. God help us indeed.
I doubt he'll last a full term (too thin-skinned) but Pence is worse: evil with brains!
I get that feeling of banal evil, too. I did watch his speech (keep your friends close but your enemies closer). Lincoln, FDR, and JFK don't have anything to worry about as to their place in history with Inaugural speeches. That piece of boring claptrap won't bump any of 'em off the Greatest Inaugural Speeches List. It was short, too, because Trump has a short attention span.
They showed that documentary a few weeks before the election, along with one about Clinton. Both should have been mandatory watching. The election would have turned out much differently...or not. There are a lot of stupid people in this country.
