Oh, this was a really lovely, bittersweet story! I loved all the touches, all the historical details, they really brought the story to life. And Steve and Diana, and Ma Hunkel of course! *pets them all*

What a bittersweet, quiet story! I really liked the description of the sitting room--it sounded like my grandmother's house all over again. :)

Thank you, m'dear! I took what I remembered of my grandmother's house complete with the table that held the phone in the hall. :)

A wartime Christmas must be a rollercoaster of emotions. People wanted to be jolly and enjoy the season but the war was always there.
