It's Halloween Week!!! *squees*

Man, the energy is just swirling around like the leaves! It's a gorgeous fall day, all golden and orange and crimson, and the weather is just right: cool enough to wear a jacket but not uncomfortable. Crisp air and the bounty of the harvest ready to be enjoyed

I wish. I used to love decorating outside my house, but in the last ten years or so I haven't bothered and haven't handed out candy in about six. All the kid go downtown where all the stores hand out candy and it's "safe". The nostalgic side of me misses it, but the kids had dwindled from 60 or so to around 15-20 and it just wasn't worth it. While downtown is a zoo, it is light out--they start at 5:00--and safe, I suppose, though it's not like we had rampant (or any) violence to kids in the neighborhoods.

We're a society so concerned with safety where there aren't any issues that we've killed fun for kids in a lot of ways. Some of my happiest memories are trick-or-treating and that was when we turned the clocks back before Halloween instead of after and it was good and dark out by 5:00. :)

Kids would rather do their own thing than go to 'safe' stores, but that's the world we live in. I'm glad I was a kid years ago instead of now in a lot of ways.

I do love this time of year even though the cold makes my bones ache.

I just realized that my Smallville Big Bang story could well have been adapted for your Halloween challenge. It does feature a couple of witches after all... Hmmmm, maybe I'll do a sequel for next year!
