Sad Day In New England

Apr 15, 2013 18:38

Well, if there's a way to ruin something good, human beings will find it. The day was glorious, typical for Patriots' Day in the Commonwealth. The Boston Marathon began and the Red Sox played their traditional 11:00 game at Fenway Park. The Bruins would play a hockey game tonight at the Garden and the city would be filled with happy, joyful people ( Read more... )

As horrible as the events of today were, I'm so glad you weren't there and that you're okay, sweetie. My first thought after hearing about the blasts was to wonder if you might have been there, and I've been checking often to see if you would post.

*hugs you super tight*

And I'm so glad that your sister and BIL weren't there. Just, gods. *shakes head*

*more hugs*

Thanks, Saavi! *hugs*

I would have been out of my mind if my sister and BIL had gone. I've been in the Fens neighborhood for baseball games and college and know the area well. The street is literally soaked in blood. :(

Oh gods. You never think about what's left behind after something like this, but considering they keep talking about 'traumatic amputations' on the news, I guess that makes sense. *shudders*

*hugs you some more*

Thanks, sweetie! *hugs*

They'll have to collect all the blown-off limbs from the street, too. I've seen the videos of the explosions and it blew out several buildings' windows and rocked the area. The cellphone towers are shut down so further bombs can't be triggered by their signals. Frankly, the city is under siege at the moment. :(

It's such a horrible thing. I have several friends who were in the area for the Red Sox game and heard the blast. My cousin was there cheering on her friend who was running in the Marathon but luckily they both escaped injury. I hope they find whoever is behind this quickly and take them down.

Patriots' Day is our day here. There's the Red Sox game and the Marathon and kids start a week off from school. It's usually great weather. And now all this. :(
