Blame
pervyficgirl for this! ;) I was dithering about whether or not to issue another Challenge, figuring everyone’s so busy at this time of year; I’ve got a full plate that’s heaping, and yet, and yet...she asked if I was going to do something for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas! And I...I want to do a new Challenge! Yes, I do! ;)
The theme of this Challenge is pretty simple: family and winter holidays. That includes Thanksgiving, Yule, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, and any other holiday you can fit in or create yourself (Festivas, anyone?) ;)!
The complete Master List is
here. Interested?
You can write/draw something with a large family, or just two people, because a married couple (or a couple/threesome in love) can constitute a family. I’m thinking that happy fic/art could cheer a lot of people up during the holidays, but don’t feel constrained to write/draw something that is upbeat if your Muses go in a different direction.
Examples of cheerful stories I wrote last year are
Family I: Thanksgiving and
Family II: Christmas Eve, though there is a serious thread running through the second one. I do think you get a sense of love and warmth in both stories, and it’s nice to see the heroes and their non-caped friends and family enjoying the holidays. :)
So, the fic/art/manip/icon must in some way take place in a holiday setting. I’ll throw out a few ideas, none of which are required prompts, because this Challenge will not have required prompts! I know, shocking, isn’t it? ;)
So, ‘holiday setting’ can include Thanksgiving dinner, decorating the Christmas tree, a Yule ritual, New Year’s ball, etc. There’s so many things that can be done with the holidays! Hey, if you want to have your characters sitting around complaining about writing out Christmas cards, go ahead! ;)
So, there are your requirements: some kind of holiday setting and a family theme: loving families, families that drive each other crazy, unconventional families, and so on.
Posting dates: November 1, 2008-January 1, 2009
The usual suspects:
Genre: Sure, warm ‘n’ sappy comes to mind, but if your Muses want to do hurt/comfort, drama, etc., go for it! AUs are definitely welcome! Humor, romance, cracky goodness...it’s all good! :)
Pairings (or threesomes, etc. ;) ): Slash, het, gen
Continuity: Comicsverse, movieverse, ‘toonverse, TVverse (Smallville, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Adventures of Superman, etc.) Cross-overs with other fandoms welcome as long as the DCU gets equal 'screen time'.
Rating: G all the way through to NC-17
Please post the link to your work here on this page and I’ll compile a Master List if there’s enough entries.
Remember, I encourage cross-challenging, so if you can fit your work into more than one Challenge, go for it!
