It seems to be inflicted on you whether or not you're paid. I spent 5 minutes looking for the option to turn it off, and it was already disabled... but only for kvance.livejournal.com.
yes, you can only control it for YOUR journal, not whether or not you see it on other peoples' journals, and they turned it on by default for Free and Plus users because they thought "the average person" would like it.
I didn't realize what people were talking about at first because Adblock+Filterset.G had already blocked them.
