It's a very strong word in french. Children often say: "Maman je m'ennuie" ("Mom, I'm bored"). It's the feeling of not knowing what to do next, because everything look uninteresting, or not interesting anymore... seeking for excitement.

More new words for you to fight your boredom: "ça me fait chier" or "Je me fais chier". Which is the regular slang for the same thing :)
