The first two pictures of my Tordenskiold copy

Ok here is the first two work sessions with the painting.

At the first one I had finished the grounding of the background and done a fast scetch of the motive using white. The background is terra di siena mixed with ivory black. Thus the white got quickly into a blurry lighter version of the brown in the background.

Then at the second one I started to work on the face and hands using mixed white, golden ochre, bright yellow, clear red and ivory black. I also worked at the allongewhig using the same white and the black. And I also did some work on the armour using white. Some white, yellow, ochre and black was used at the handle of his sword. Some white for the frills and white and black for his cravate.

I also did some work at the naval scenery in the background.

Well this is how much I managed to do in two sessions. But it will take ages to get the face okay, especially the eyes. I am not good at making faces!! (Pun intended :) )
