Falling for LEs

Jul 15, 2006 21:33

I've found a good substitute for Spanked, which I love but fear using up. It's similar enough, even if it does turn a little powdery towards the end, plus it has a wonderful fruity-spicy note as well.

The problem? It's King of Clubs.

Sin, to me, smelled a lot like Spanked. Did you try that? It might be completely different on you... but it's worth a try.

It's on my list of things to try! - if I get hold of it, I might try layering it with De Sade to get the leatheriness too. I'm a bit wary of the cinnamon, which I tend to amp. :S

Ohh I love King of Clubs! It lacked the note in Spanked that makes me sneeze continualy.
I got a lot more berries from KoC tho.

Yeah, me too. I'm not normally a fruit person, but it works well in this.

I did the same: a chaos theory blend which I thought "Hey! this could replace Val sans retour! :D!"

....honestly. Could I be any stupider? Sometimes I wonder.

Sorry, I laughed out loud at this. Am a bad person.

Considering that I have just under a ml of KoC, it was a particularly dim thought on my part, though....

Nah, it's alright. It is funny Until I run out of one or both.

...well the heart does not always choose what is wise.

*snuggles the Val and laughs at your story* I've done that so many times. "Hey, Underpants reminds me of Milk Moon!" or "Hmm, Arkham Revisited has the same sweetness as The Living Flame, wooho--oh, wait." :P

I have had a few strokes of luck, though: La Belle Au Bois Dormant reminds me of what might happen if Nihil and Val had a kid. Not quite the same, but close enough to soothe me when I run out of either or both. :P Dana O'Shee works well for the milky notes, and best of all - Othello smells almost exactly like The Living Flame, which is good because I'd been terrified of what I'll do when Flame runs out!

Oops! I have to say I'm dead lucky, I've never fallen desperately in love of an LE. Yet. *braces self for HGM*

I haven't tried out Spanked extensively, but if you're looking for musk + leather + spice, Loviatar might do the trick - I certainly noticed a resemblance. And when I look at the ingredients list for King of Clubs, it reminds me of Hellfire, but that lacks spice, probably.

Sadly, Loviatar just smells like ladies' perfume on me. On my gf, it smells like sexy aristocratic Bond villainess in leather. *evilgrin*

Hellfire is definitely on my List.. :)

Have you tried Geburah? It's kinda linen and leathery on me, but I have seen reviews describing it as a hot leather scent. :)

I wish Loviatar did that for me! Spanked smells pretty good on me, but Loviatar goes to pure leather. And I don't mean 'sexy fun leather,' I mean, 'have you been tanning hides all afternoon? get a shower!' leather. :P

my Spanked substitute, unfortunately, involves layering two LEs. then again i don't smell a lot of leather in it so i'm mostly going for a cardamom-patchouli thing. but man i love that cardamom!

Just curious, which two LEs?

Alone (for the cardamom) and Geek (for the leather and patchouli) -- though patchouli is in Alone too.

Actually I mispoke in my last post, it isn't the leather that I don't smell in Spanked, it's the bourbon! I get leather loud and clear but I don't smell anything boozy at all.
