rant about the USPS

Why does their track and confirm site continue to be so damn vague? I got a C-n-S on May 29th and it still says this:
Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received ( Read more... )

chatter: postal hell

Because the mailmen suck at scanning the packages the way they are supposed to. 99% of the time, it doesn't get scanned at all between shipping and delivery.

It's not really supposed to work as a tracking number like UPS tracking numbers. It's just so the shipper can prove you actually got the goods if you try to claim you didn't. :(

i dunno about that...if you read it, it says that the usps recieved notifcation by the shipper to expect a package for mailing, not that they actually mailed it.

i hate that message. LOL

I had the exact same issue with my order, so I emailed BPAL's customer service because I was getting a little nervous, and they told me that the packages that had a ship date of 5/28 were actually picked up by USPS late last week. So that would explain why the information wasn't updated all of last week, though you'd think it would be updated by now. (I haven't checked yet to see if mine has changed since yesterday afternoon.) Like others have said, USPS is kind of inconsistent about keeping that thing updated. I've never had any problems tracking my BPAL packages through the USPS site, but I know others have.

Hm, just checked mine and it looks like USPS still hasn't updated the information. Oh well. I think I'll probably get the package today or tomorrow anyway.

Wow, you're lucky! In over a year of shipments, I've *never* (and I mean that literally) had USPS update that message until it actually arrives in my PO box. I've never seen a message that said "yep, we have it, and it's on the way". I just assumed they didn't do that.
