I'm particularly interested by your description of Lightning because I found this to be quite true to the smell of the air after a spring shower here in England. I do think, though, that it would be even more beautiful if it was wetter and more earthy.
If I ever find a scent that embodies the smell after a true torrential downpour, I will be in scent-heaven!
I have yet to smell anything that smells *exactly* like rain though. The rain scents always smell a little too clean to me. When I smell rain, no matter where it is... here in the mountains, downtown London, or even in tropical Tahiti... there is always a very dirty note I smell, the earth being awoken I guess. Lightning, Storm Moon, and a few others are beautiful scents, but they do seem more clean and like a laundry scent to me, which is still pretty, but not as natural as I'd like. I think I might try mixing one with a dirty scent, like Graveyard Dirt or Zombie and see what I can come up with. :)
And thank you for your compliment on my reviews, I appreciate that. :)
And I wish I was in England right now... my favorite place in the world. :)
And I definitely see what you mean about the aquatic scents missing that earthy smell. They certainly smell 'sharp' to me, usually in a citrusy way, which does tend to detract away from the impression of rain that the scent is trying to convey.
I am a huge England fan. I've been 4 times now, 3 times on my own and once with my husband. We plan on moving to London once he finishes his schooling. :) The first time I went I spent a month on my own in London and decided I was home. I was going to go back to the USA, get my stuff and move to London... but then I met my husband and it delayed those plans a bit. :)
Hmmm... aquatic scents do seem to be quite sharp on me too. Maybe a little citrus, but also a little powdery. I still like those scents, just not to wear unless I need a big pick me up.
I sort of smelled dill pickles in Kostnice too. For some reason I assumed it was the frankincense, but since then I've gotten an imp of Rose Cross and I definitely don't get a pickle smell from that one. So I have no clue why I got that from it, but I'm glad I'm not the only one.
