Obligatory newbie post *waves*

Hello. First time poster here, very new to BPAL. For my birthday, sin_and_sparkle sat me in a coffee shop and got me to try a few oils, just a few; Khephra, Sybaris, Jack (ohmygod! popcorn!), and a couple of others. She gave me four as gifts, and I wore them, played around with them, generally had fun. Then another friend lent me a few more imps. I fell in love ( Read more... )

Welcome!

One of my lj friends for a long time made several posts about BPAL, which I found interesting but never chased up. Then I found a couple more people talking about BPAL, and I decided to check it out. The website was cool but quite daunting, so I posted here and asked for suggestions. I ordered my first imp pack, a couple of which worked out quite well, and then I started dipping my toe into the secondhand market.

Thank you!

I'm finding the forums a little daunting at the moment - I can get my head round the reviews section, but there seems to be a lot going on.

naamah_darling's evocative reviews sucked me in. I used to make my own oils a long time ago and hardly ever wore store perfume, so I was an instant convert.

Lucky you for getting so many free imps!

It was a little bit like Christmas, yeah! It's given me a good grounding in not being precious about the ones I'm not so keen on. I'm finding the community thing a big pull, too.

I've never worm perfume regularly before, mostly because I'm not keen on most shopbought ones, and I have skin problems that tend to go haywire when confronted with perfume oils. Haven't found a single thing that I react to yet, which is really surprising.

Hmm, have you tried anything with a prominent cinnamon or cassia note? A lot of people with sensitive skin can't wear those.

I'm wearing Incubus at the moment (I think it's cinnamon-y) with no problems, and I'm OK with Priala, too, but I haven't (as far as I know) tried anything with cassia in. I'll keep that in mind when I'm picking things to try - thanks.

Someone on my flist wrote several times about "BPAL" and I got curious enough to google it. Looked through the site a bit, ordered some random imps and was instantly addicted. So many oils to try, so little funds... ^^

Six imps in a box of gifts from a friend. I ignored them because I am not a perfume person, famous last words. I opened them up and it opened me up and now I smell delicious!
