I need help but don't know where to begin. Everything looks amazing and I realize I'm about to partake in something as addictive as crack. Can anyone make some recommendations for what I might start out with? Be gentle! I love vanilla, ylang ylang, amber, musk, spice, jasmine. Order an imp pack or two. Least expensive way to sample various scents. My suggestions would be:
The Lion: spiced amber
Snake Oil: BPAL's #1 seller, an addictive blend of vanilla, resins, spice and musk.
Salome or Kumiho are my favorite jasmine scents.
Dorian: androgynous vanilla tea scent
Velvet: cocoa and sandalwood and soo sexy.
Morocco or Bastet for more exotic spicy musk goodness.

Oh, and you might be interested in Antique Lace for vanilla w/ a floral undertone, O for a musky honey vanilla and Black Opal for an indescribably unique minerally vanilla scent. There's nothing else I've ever smelled like it.

I don't think Kumiho has jasmine? Do you mean Kitsune-tsuki? Similar, Japanese themed name, with jasmine.

Musks:
- La Petite Mort has a sort of dusky skin-like musk note. It smells like sex in a bottle, for serious. It also has ylang ylang in. Try it.
- Wanda has some musk in, but it's primarily a booze scent. It's one of my favorites. Red wine and leather, very 'yes-ma'am'.
Generally for musks check the Ars Amatoria section. There are tons.
- Amber: Try Haunted. It's a crowd favorite.
- Vanilla: I fear vanilla. I fear Snake Oil most of all. Therefore you will probably like it. Also try Tamora which is peachy.

You might also like Eden - that finishes on a strong vanilla note for me (sadly, vanilla smells like a candle on me.) Bess or Desdemona.

There are lots of scents with amber or amber/ vanilla in them. My favorites are The Lion, Annubis and Coyote ( ... )

That's a great idea. I'm a list girl myself so I'll definitely track of everything! It's nice to get some recommends though to get started.
Cedar and vanilla? That sounds like heaven. My dh use to use a cedar/sage that drove me crazy.

Bpal.org has reviews, discussion and sales. You can often find very good prices on imps and so try many more than you might otherwise be able to afford, then you can decide on bottles. But trolling sales can be equally addicting! Welcome and enjoy!
