Curious...

got a question. I seriously need to go through my various imp collection and see what works and what doesn't... but is there a way to test them on your skin in large amounts? Does washing your wrists off after each test affect the next test? Is it plausible to use several spots on your arm for testing before washing... or is it jus tbest to deal ( Read more... )

I usually test four at a time, one on each wrist, one halfway up my forearm. Sometimes I wipe them off with lemon juice or alcohol, then wash the spot with dishwashing soap (it seems to do a better job than hand soap!) and then try again, but usually I worry that I won't get totally scent-free skin that way. I wish I could try more!

I've been known to do the backs of my hands, on my wrists, and a couple of spots along my arms. But I'm not terribly picky about "scent contamination". ;)

I can go up to 8, 2 spots on each side of the wrist (not the middle) 2 spots on each side of the forearm, near the elbow. I've never found this to be confusing, but then I always make sure that I'm not using similar blends on opposite spots, and I always put the more discreet blends on first, before putting the overpowering ones on. Also, I only apply a little... no more than a small swipe of the wand, in most cases.

At Will call I saw a couple of clever ladies that had labels and they would just write on them and label where they put different perfumes so they didn't get confused by the schmorgasborg of yum.

I've found that I can't really assess the throw if I try too many, but what you can do is try multiple scents, and immediately eliminate the clear 'no' scents and then retry the maybe/yes scents on their own.

This is EXACTLY what I do, especially when I found that after I put a "yes" on something and bought a bottle of it, that it may not work as well again! *blush* so now I try eight scents at at time, four on each arm like this: one on the back of my hand, one on the back of my wrist area, one on my wrist and one on my forearm close to my elbow. Then I write down which are clearly NO and clearly LOVE and then I always always always try the LOVE ones at least three more times to make sure it really is LOVE before I buy a full bottle. And I only put just a smidge on initially, then as I retest them I put more on.

And lemon juice mixed with a bit of salt is a great way to get scent off... but sometimes it just lingers no matter what you do! :)
