I'm there with you on this one... my radical wonky hypothesis: remember in the 'old' BSG where they found the silver city and the 'angels'? Those are the 'five' in the new BSG. As to Tigh, harken once more to the old BSG, when Patrick MacNee played Baron supthinoranother... who was essentially Satan. Maybe that's where they're goin with this.

So far, the new BSG has mined just about everything from the old series (save for the 'real' Cylons aren't lizard people and monkeys in robot suits). I'm thinkin' you're almost completely on the money.

"That could work for Anders, Tyrol, and Tori, all of whom are too young to have lived through the first Cylon War, but what about Tigh? He just seems to violate every possible explanation for who and what the Cylons are at every turn. This'll definitely take some doing to figure out."

That is only if we assume that all of the original
cylon models were created as whole cloth. Maybe
the 7 were made one way and the 5 another. remember
in the razor flashback we saw them experimenting
on people. It was assumed they were just trying to
figure out how to mimic humanity in general. What
if they captured some real people and copied their
minds into the five. It could explain the rift in
the two factions.

Captured real people? Woah.

That would explain Col. Tigh's PTSD from the first Cylon war quite well. Verrrry interesting...

The producers have stated that the Final Five are fundamentally different from the other Cylons. I believe the Final Five are the original Cylons, and come from Kobol. The whole "this has happened before and will happen again" I suspect harkens back to the original crisis on Kobol that led to the Humans fleeing and founding the 12 Colonoes (+ Earth).

I don't think the Final Five are machines like the other Cylons.

Lucky for you that you got the VFX! My cable box was not working so instead of watching it on 50" plasma surround sound, I got to see it on my 2" TV in my bedroom that (thank God) did not have a cable box.

Damn Comcast!
