"Tin Man" thoughts

Well, it seems that a lot of people really, really liked the miniseries. Given the massive advertising push SciFi gave it, I'm not surprised it attracted so many viewers ( Read more... )

television, snark, media, like whoa, friends, dark tower, movies, the internets

we managed to get them taped, now we have to find 4 hours somewhere :D glad to know it has an abrupt ending though, I hate being surprised by those.

Sounds colossally stupid on the teacher's part, and a vast overreaction on everyone else's.

Irony doesn't travel well in print, especially in an irony-deficient culture like ours--as evidenced by the idea of arresting someone for a blog posting.

The mid-west part is based on the original book which involved a lot of allegory about the gold standard vs the silver standard. Dorothy dreams of something beyond the mid-west and follows the yellow brick road to oz. but finds that the wizard is a sham, that the east and west (coasts) are evil, and that all she really needed were her silver slippers and the wholesome mid-west farmers (that people thought would get screwed if the US went on the gold standard instead of the silver).

There's metaphor in everything, I suppose. I never knew this. I wonder how Ron Paul supporters would take this bit of knowledge. :)

And kudos to you for having the first "Tin Man" icon I've seen so far. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was a bit irked at the abrupt ending. I, too, wanted more of the "where are they now?" stuff. DVD time for me as well!

N and I really don't get it. Why did people like Tin Man? It was so...completely not what we expected. Last year's The Lost Room was fantastic. This was crap in comparison. Tin Man just lacked good scripting, good acting (despite good actors), and stylistic cohesion. It was so bad we didn't even finish it!

Too bad that people latch onto crap like this and the good stuff (like Firefly) gets the shaft.
