I thought the same thing. :)

The difference was that on Lost, the flashbacks are usually anywhere from several years in the past to just before the plane crash, rather than during the events of the episode itself. Though there was one episode where I think they did something similar - the third season episode "Exposé", with Nikki and Paolo.
