Better, but still not good...

Last week, at the end of the night of bowling, one of our opponents came over and said, "I didn't want to say anything while we were bowling, but you might do better if you stood up a little straighter - you'd get more speed on the ball. Right now your backswing is too short ( Read more... )

1. Maybe your opponent *wanted* you to bowl badly, in case of a future match-up.

2. I do believe Thomas the Red had FULL MOON HIGH as part of the Balticon video program. It's his kind of film, at any rate.

Well, the way the schedule works, that's not likely until next year. Every team bowls against each other team once only.

I think she probably meant well, but I'm so used to the other style that I couldn't adjust easily.

He likes the cheese, does he? :)

Oh, yes. That may be why we've never seen him with a significant other.

Unless, of course, he hooking up with someone at his Friday night line dancing group. Hope s/he likes going to out of business sales, as his alternate idenitity is that of Thomas the RAD, the retail agent of death. He always reports on what going-defunct business has the biggest discounts.

Aw, the theme for angrykat's party was "tacky shirts."

Actually, there was a guy there who had a really neat shirt, sort of a fractals/snakeskin pattern.

I wouldn't consider a sweaty t-shirt to be all that tacky in the usual sense of the word - I'd have wanted to come home and change into a Hawaiian shirt or something if I had felt up to coming.

Mind you, the t-shirt in question did have wording on it that some might find tacky - it said, "I've had ups and downs with top and bottom... now I'm looking for strange and charming." *grin*

Sounds interesting... and sounds like he'd fit right in with fandom (if he's not already part of it).

I don't know this woman, but I kind of doubt that she'd wait until afterwards if she was trying to sabotage you.

FWIW, assuming her suggestions were correct (which I don't know), there could still be a learning curve before that worked for you.

You're probably right on both counts. Any physical activity requires a lot of repetition before the body gets used to it, not to mention that standing straighter was probably making me pull my ball to the left (as opposed to the possibility that I was just having an off-night). If I had thrown the ball slightly further to the right to compensate, it might have worked.

Exactly. If you're doing something wrong, you're used to doing it that way, it would take a while before doing it a better way would feel natural. And yes, I'm still talking about bowling. ;)
