Yet another weekend chock-full of meetings. Five hours with the Toronto Trek department heads yesterday, and three hours with plaidlibrarian going over stuff for Gaylaxicon programming. Not that I'm complaining overly much; both meetings were very productive ( Read more... )

This problem that others have reported whereby the window keeps getting progressively wider while updating is happening to me as well.
Me too... I was getting ready to complain about that. :P

By the way, the zine has been released; and funny story... we had quite a bit of cash left so we printed 500 copies instead of our usual 300. We're also doing some sort of joint launch thing with the AGO's youth council zine... so, hopefully, a lot of people are going to see it. ^_^ I still don't know all of the places we have stocked them, but I have a few kicking around, so I could always mail one to you.

Excellent!

Will try and post it this weekend, if not next weekend when I'm in New York and have nothing but time on my hands. ;)

Hey Mitch,

Absolutely, we can use another volunteer there - I'll email you and tell you all the details.

Sadly enough I thought I contacted you about this long ago, but once I realized I didn't have your e-mail, I understood that no, I was just talking to myself and THINKING you somehow got the message telepathically.

*grin*

That's odd, though, considering that I was your TT programming contact for a year or two. But no worries. (For future reference, it's lance_sibley at yahoo dot com.)

(and yes, I do realize that I'm saying that in almost the most literal of ways)

I was going to say "perhaps Tessa didn't tell you everything, and you may change your mind," but reading that sentence I see that you do know what it entails. :) I probably won't get to the email until later today, though - I'm just taking a quick break from laundry to try to get through my Inbox.

It's a special event at Gaylaxicon to raise money for Casey House. Basically, you show up, pay $5 and get a volunteer of your choice to feed you cheesecake. For $5 more, you can get a photo taken. (Sometimes, at Ad Astra, for another $5 you can also get a glass of champagne - I don't know if that's being included this time or not.)

Details are up on the website, here.

Someone suggested that it was because of a bug in the interface between Linux (I guess that's what LJ is written for) and my Firefox browser.

I think it's template-specific. Not all of the LJ templates are compatible with all browsers (coders vary in their HTML-standards compliance). For example, my particular template doesn't seem to have problems in any of the major browsers, but the template for asystoletwins breaks scroll all the time. I used to use the same template you now use -- with a different color scheme -- and I rarely had problems.

Glad to see your feelings have cooled a bit. I apologize for not commenting more often, but even logging into LJ can be a challenge over here, and the comments page can take forever to pop up. I am keeping up with your blog, however.

Interesting - makes sense, though. I don't know who wrote the template that I use - I just got it from the LJ site itself, and assumed that it was something they created.

You have no reason to apologize for not commenting more; it's amazing that you're able to get online at all. I've been quite enjoying your posts. Your description of the thunderstorm in last night's post was most poetic, and I'm getting quite a bit out of seeing your perspective, unfiltered through the media. :) (Which reminds me, I'll have to post later about something which has been going on here recently, about which I'd like to hear your opinion.)
