I went up to Future Shop today to find something to buy with my gift card... and I couldn't find anything I wanted. I asked, and they didn't have season 27 of Doctor Who in the computer at all, so the Canadian release has likely been delayed until July 4 along with the American release. (Hmm, what else is going on around that time ( Read more... )

I was in a Barnes & Noble the other day, and there, they put the romance behind the last row of SF/ Fantasy/ Graphic Novels. I turned around to let somebody pass through to the abthroom, and spotted a romance book. "Irresistable Forces", edited by Catherine Asaro. Stories from Jo Beverley, Lois McMaster Bujold, Mary Jo Putney, Catherine Asaro, Jennifer Roberson, Deb Stover. You can guess my first thought. "Hey, aren't almost all of those major science fiction and fantasy writers?" I read the first few pages of into and... yep. New project, I guess. The back cover pretty much sums it up. "Six of today's most popular authors join talents in a unique anthology that shows love can conquer all... even the boundaries of time and space ( ... )

I've seen similar anthologies, I have one of mystery stories written by SF authors. IIRC, it's called "Whatdunits?" and it was edited by Michael Resnick.

And what is slash, if not romance? (I found a Lost slash site this evening; appropriately enough, it's called www.lost-slash.com. The fact that there was a Charlie/Hurley story on there, however... eek. (Me, I read a couple of Charlie/Boone stories. Not bad, but I'm not really seeing the potential there. Nor do I see Jack/Boone, which seems to be the most popular M/M pairing on the site. Now, Jack/Sawyer, OTOH... ;) )

Got friends going to Arisia. One is getting on his laptop every hour or so to tell us how it's going. ADDICT!!!

Dark Angel... Damn, been such a long time since I heard about it. Unfortunately as it seems with a lot of FOX series, the story and everything was great in the first season but then the quality just dropped in the second along with random, tangental plots.

Damn I am turning into a bitter queen too quickly. =P

You *really* don't want to read Feast of Crows without reading the rest of the series first. You'll be totally lost. I'm not much into fantasy either, but these are way excellent.

He wasn't impressed with the, shall we say, level of disorganization. I don't recall the details of what went wrong (I was too busy doing my own jobs), but there were various issues that displeased him.
