Oh yeah! 1984 & Farenheit 451 are a must if you haven't read them.

50 movies is no problem for me, but I haven't been reading much lately (too busy studying Japanese I guess).

Fifty Fifty is such a great idea! Also I love opportunities to recommend books :)
-Special Topics in Calamity Physics is great, and super engaging
-Same for Room. And Prep. Have you read those?
-I read A Discovery of Witches recently and that's also interesting/engaging
-Straight Man is fun/cute, and an easy read
-have you read the Abhorsen series, by Garth Nix? It's sort of similar in tone to The Golden Compass etc.

Love your theme idea. I couldn't decide on a theme, and just realized I broke a rule on the first day (re-watched a movie) D'oh!!
But I can easily make up for that in the next 364 days! Easy Peasy!!!
