HELP

Hello all. I HAVE A QUESTION. What is a good laptop for college? And what is a reasonable price range for laptops? I need to buy one and my mom has been pressuring me but I have absolutely no idea where to start, so if anyone could help me, that would be super super super helpful and I would appreciate it a lot. ♥

The MacBook Pro is nice, and "only" $1200 with a student discount, but you really don't need one unless you're going into graphic design, which you aren't. My boyfriend likes computers and used to like compsci a lot, and he's recommended that I get a Lenovo, Asus, or Toshiba; I currently have a $600 Lenovo in mind that I plan to buy after I've saved enough from working. I'd never heard of the first two before, but the three I listed are supposed to be three of the top laptop brands out there right now.

Okay, I read your friends' comments, and I'd like to reiterate that I really don't think a MacBook is necessary for what you're going to need a college laptop for. I only ever use my laptop to browse the Internet, download and listen to music, and type papers, and it seems like you'd do about the same. A lot of people at my school have MacBook Pros that they bought using Apple's student discount, but you can get a perfectly nice Windows laptop for about one-half to two-thirds of the price of a Mac. Macs are fun (and, ngl, I've camwhored multiple times with the Photo Booth on Macs in my dorm lounge when I was bored), pretty, and don't get viruses easily, but I used my brother's old HP laptop the whole school year and took care of it well enough so that I never got a trojan/had to reformat it. You could also check out Sony Vaios; my friend Jennifer likes the one she has. She does a lot of work for allkpop on it, and it works well for her.

SO MUCH INFORMATION TO TAKE IN @_____@ But thank you so very much for your input and advice. ♥ Right now I'm leaning towards a Lenovo because its reviews are good and it seems to be recommended, but the prices are making me D: a little. @____@ THIS IS SO HARD. But, yes, thank you!

Sorry, I know I'm tl;dr! You can boil it down to: Lenovo, Asus, and Toshiba are my top recommendations; don't get a MacBook Pro just because they're pretty, because although a lot of college students get them, you'd only need one for pursuing graphic design. This is the Lenovo I want that costs $600 after the rebate; 3GB RAM, 250GB HD space, 14" screen, six hours' battery life = perfect for my needs. What's your budget?

Mm.. Apple maybe?

But if you don't want to switch over to Mac, I have a Dell. My oldest sister had an HP and a Toshiba before but they broke really easily, but she has a Dell now and it's all right haha. But, I've heard people say Dell's suck idk ANYTHING about laptops tbh.

Personally, I would say get one that's smaller/thinner/lighter idk. Easier to carry around

Take my advice and get a refurbished one. I got my HP off newegg for around 600$ 2 years ago and I haven't had a problem once. I've only had to restart it maybe once?

But yeah I'd say 500$-700$ is an okay range.
macs are overrated lolz

lol basically it means it was defective or broken in some way so it got sent back to the factory to get fixed. They're usually cheaper and they last longer cuz all the bugs are taken out of them.
