President Bush is pushing to slash funding for PBS and NPR. They want to cut all funding within two years. Shows like "Sesame Street" are specifically targeted as having their funds cut first.
Does this really upset/disturb anyone else?

We really have nothing to fear from the loss of PBS and NPR. Do you really think that Sesame Street can't survive on a commercial basis without taxpayer funding? I mean, it's only the most popular kid's show ever. Something tells me that Sesame Street will go on.
And sure, you guy don't mind public funding of PBS and NPR because (besides the kids shows) they have a pretty liberal bent to them. I really don't think its right to force people to fund something that they might disagree with or find counter to their values. You know I would be saying the same thing if there was a conservative (or dare I dream, libertarian) bias as well.
Freedom of speech means the freedom to express yourself as long as you're willing to pay the costs of doing so. If your "freedom" requires that I have to fork over tax money against my will, then it's not really freedom.
