They've both seen the mark of her in different rooms, proof that the memory of her, like a ghost, still remains; but now they see how her things affect him.
The silence of the room is not friendly, but neither is it uncomfortable; it almost seems sad, and she wonders,

A lovely fic. I love that moment at the beginning when I realized that this was Martha, looking at Rose's room. And the end! I can just see Donna. Of course, the flicker of the monitor is perfect.

Ah, a little bit, yes. It took me about seventeen tries to actually get this posted- Livejournal was convinced that my browser spontaneously stopped encoding with UTF-8. It was the most bizarre/frustrating problem I've ever encountered on LJ.

Oh my God, I actually jumped off my chair in excitement when I saw you were the author to have done this - and you more than lived up to and exceeded all my pre-reading excitement. This was stunning, every single word of it. And this? the heavy dust of heartbreak? I think that might be the best metaphor in the world.

Ahhh! I probably never would have had such an uncomplicated yet profound sort of idea. Also, I've never written Martha before, so it was definitely a bit of a challenge to get behind her emotion and let it steer the first half of the story!
