Yes, always, and the stoner jokes especially. I always liked his interviews, too. He was always so chill and then he'd do this almost private little giggle like he was the only person in on the joke. I just want him to COME BACK to SPN.
I also really loved this ep. Even the cheesy parts; especially the cheesy parts. Reminded me so much of the old monster movies I used to watch. LOVEd it.

Singer directed "Monster Movie" too, which had the same sort of feel camera-wise. I loved the whole old school dialogue and the "innocent" sexist attitudes lent an air of authenticity (even though that's exactly why I couldn't watch "Mad Men").
This was a fun episode. It reminded me of what this show can be. :)
it was the perfect way to deal with her character; it allowed the possibility of a spectacular return, saved Charlie from the fate of most hunters (I'd really hate to see her have a lonely, bitter, tragic end), but provided her with an adventure of her choosing that strangely made sense with where her character development was going.

This was the best thing, I think. Charlie's character is too far down the character-development road to suddenly become static, so nonOzhunter!Charlie would have to lose some of what makes her so refreshing. And she has such an effervescent personality that just suits fairy tale adventures. There's quirky Garth where the downtroddenness (is that even a word?!) of hunting life just seems to roll off his back, but I feel like he's more for comic relief (so far) rather than a fully realized character.
Oh yes, all of this! And Robbie Thompson really gave a good episode. To me it even felt like it had some Edlundian feel to it (most likely crack). There was just so much stuff packed into one episode and I loved that Charlie got to have a quest of her own.

The whimsical premise especially. I thought the merging of the Wizard of Oz world and SPN's universe was cleverly done. It gave me the impression that a lot of thought went into how, when, where, and why this was going to all happen and that there's back story and tidbits that never made it onto the page. Also, RT seems like a major fanboy, something that I always appreciate.
Yeah, that's a good point--in SPN's world, an adventure usually leaves you broken and hopeless, but in the world of Oz, it can have the magic she seeks.

Oh no. :( Interesting, though, that I've yet to read a negative episode reaction post for this episode on my flist (but I keep my flist quite small). I suppose it just depends on which SPN fandom circles you're part of. Out of curiosity, what generally did people not like about it?
Uhm, let's see. They thought it was too wordy and curtain-fic-y. They found the wicked witch lame. They pointed out some of the continuity problems (which I thought were less obvious in this ep than in many others). They thought some of the Sam "this isn't my home" stuff was anvil-y. They thought Charlie was too precious. They thought the explanation of Kevin's absence made no sense. And ... I could go on. Some of them HATED it. :-}
And the great thing about fandom is that we can love what we love and leave all the rest. And I feel like this fandom is decently diverse, so those who feel a certain way can stick together and have their own parties.
