SPN Meta Recs

This list is mostly for me because keeping things in my memories sort of annoying, but I figured maybe other people might be interested in the thoughts floating around the fandom.

Most of the stuff I find interesting concerns characterization and motivation and wonderfully long, rambling comparison posts stuffed with facts, tables, references and ( Read more... )

HI! I'm happy to pass more meta your way (and hopefully play the role of evil enabler)! ;)

My holidays were good. Spent time basking in Arizona sun, eating loads of good food, and hanging out with the family. I think I might post some pictures on LJ once I figure out how to get the files off the new camera. Hope your holidays were/are equally pleasant! Happy New Year!

Hello, my friend. I have been on holiday as far as reading journals are concerned.

So many things are happening in the LJ world and I am reading only 3. One of the 3 was "trolled?" if indeed that is the correct word and so I had to come out of my anonymous state for her. I have decided that I will only do so for her just to be on the safe side. I know you understand.

Anyhow, dearest... I am still at a loss as to understand the word "meta" and I will appreciate a definition from the most knowledgeable guru... i.e., your lovely self.

I am still in awe as to how you have the time to learn to put all these "meta" things together and live in the real world. Kudos to you!

Cheers from Central London... much love and may 2008 be everything your heart desiresxxxxxx

Hope you enjoyed your LJ holiday. :) I've been on a mini hiatus from the virtual world as well. Breaks are much needed necessities to recharge the batteries.

One of the 3 was "trolled?"

Yes, I know what you're talking about. That was really unfortunate, and I totally understand why anonymous commenting was disabled. But her journal is flocked, so you should be OK, right?

I am still at a loss as to understand the word "meta"Oh man. Uh ... I've assimilated the term into my vocabulary after discovering the SPN fandom. Nowhere have I see the technical definition spelled out, but I infer it to be a piece of work commenting on/analyzing an aspect of another piece of work. For SPN meta are often about characterization and character motivation/interaction. Some meta are catalogues of show facts. And now that the show has a deeper history with 2 seasons under its belt, some meta are taking on a more research-heavy and pattern-finding slant ( ... )

Thank you for clarifying the technicalities of the word "meta." Oh, brother. What a palava! Only you, darling... only you. LOL.

I understand your leaning towards the handsome brothers... but, you know, I do so miss your writing as well.

I have just read your current entry and I would like to comment on that... you are killing me!!!!LOL.

What a palava!

Wow, that's the first time I've heard anyone use that word in context! Incidentally that's also what my fanfic LJ alias (palavrae) is derived from, only my use of it was for the secondary definition: idle talk. :)

I do so miss your writing as well.

Aww, thanks. You know, I sort of miss fic writing, too. D and I have been working on (or rather I've been sitting on since this summer) a joint HP fic. It has to do with an alternate Horcrux. Oo. I really should get working on that again. Thanks for the nudge.

You're very welcome! It's always interesting to go back and read S1 meta and see which ideas stood the test of time. Interestingly enough I found most of the character-based meta were still consistent with S3 ... horray for character continuity. :)
