E-mail Weirdness

Hello f-list and whoever else might randomly happen upon this.

I just wanted to let you know that my LJ and e-mail have decided to stop communicating.  Over the last week it seemed like I wasn't getting the same amout of e-mail traffic as I normally do, but now I'm not getting any LJ comment or reply notifications in my inbox despite the fact there' ( Read more... )

I was wondering the exact same thing about the comments last weekend, and the name of the problem is Hotmail. Apparently, it's blocking all mail from LJ servers. I resolved it by changing my LJ contact email (in the profile page) from my Hotmail account to my Gmail, and telling then Gmail to forward all incoming mail to Hotmail. In your face, Hotmail! Heh, bending the rules FTW!

What is it with fandom and incest anyway?

I have this theory that Special Hell is behind these shows so that they could lure in more people. And I think it's working. ;) Very nice vid, btw.

Thank you so much for being the answereveryquestion person of awesomeness! I've been really annoyed/befuddled for the last week. I created a new fandom e-mail account over at gmail and made that my LJ contact address. :) I've searched around on gmail, but can't seem to find how to get my hotmail messages forwarded to my new gmail account. Do you think you could point me in the right direction again? *bats eyelashes* :)

Ah, so we can all blame Hell, then. *nods* That makes sense that Sammessiah Satan is behind EVERYTHING as he is the root of all evil. I guess obsessiveness and irrational squee are both officially evil vices now. ;) At least Hell will be fun once we get there and we'll be in good company. I should make sure I'm prepared... *goes off in search of a red glittery devil's horn headband and plastic pitch fork*

No problem! Hmm, my Gmail is trying to read minds, so it's in Finnish *grumbles and prefers the universal English* but I think that the email forwarding can be found in the upper right hand corner (right next to your email address), presumably saying "Settings" and once there, there should be a section "Forwarding and POP". Then just add your email address to the box where it says "Send a copy of the incoming message to" (or something like it) and pick a suitable option for Gmail to handle the original message.

I don't like Gmail's style of clumping the incoming messages to a discussion-styled email threads, so I archive the LJ notices at Hotmail and delete them for Gmail... Hotmail may not be letting mail from LJ's servers through, but it damn sure can archive them for me. And inform me when my Gmail has new mail. ;)

That makes sense that Sammessiah Satan is behind EVERYTHING as he is the root of all evil. And didn't Kripke mention at Comic-con that he is a minion of Satan. ;) *looks for the original quote* Oh, it seems that I was a ( ... )

Ah, "settings" hiding everything there makes perfect sense ... now. Thanks. :)

I was hoping this feature would help me keep my inbox from imploding on itself. I've never used gmail before, so we'll see if I like it or not. Windows Live (hotmail) is just really slow and it won't allow me to forward my mail from that account to gmail (only to msn-type accounts or one with original domain names); the fact they purposefully make it difficult to integrate their accounts with gmail is irritating. Grrr.

Don't let Krikpe fool you. He's totally Satan with crazy powers! Look how he managed to get thousands of people addicted to his beautiful, gory, horror show. I'm totally blaming him. *grins and whispers "K-man rules")*

The quote from that article made me laugh: Jensen Ackles (on the Inkworks Pieceworks Trading Cards): "I guess they took a whole bunch of my t-shirts out of my closet and gave them away. I'm like 'where's my grey ( ... )

Apparently hotmail is blocking LJ replies. I just opened a gmail account and am going to make that my fandom e-mail address from now on (I just sent you an e-mail about that). Plus it's a good excuse to start fresh without having to tackle the inbox of insanity. But you can always reach me at my RL e-mail address which will be staying the same. :)

Hello, hon

I do not exactly know what is going on technically, but, maybe e-mail and lj traffic naturally slows down this time of year. After all, there is Halloween then Christmas. People are probably just busy with life and life tends to tire people out sometimes... so chin up.

Love from very cold Londonxxxxxx

Hi!

It's hotmail that is behind the problem. It's blocking all LJ replies for some silly reason. I just set up a new e-mail account at gmail and sent you a message with my new address (let me know if you don't get it).

Yes, and US Thanksgiving in late November. Mmm, roast turkey and cranberry/apple pie. Things do get busy this time of year, but it's always nice to hear a quick "hello" from people here and there just to know that everything is alright. LJ is good for quick checks like that. :)

It's cold here, too. A and I and some friends are heading down to Oregon this weekend to do our last climbing trip of the season. I'm bringing my long underwear and warmest sleeping bag so I don't freeze at night. Cross your fingers for no rain. *crosses fingers and toes*
