Kripke and His Camera: Pastels, Flowers, and Symbolism in WIAWSNB

Warning: An extreme, image-heavy geek-out fest below the cut.  Should I be held responsible for where my head runs off to?

Supernatural’s strengths are its continuity with characterization, themes, motifs, and plot as well as its visual richness and the attention to detail.  Much of this can be attributed to the vision of the show’s creator, which ( Read more... )

Not falling asleep! Easy- this was fascinating. I would never have thought to look for the flowers- and the yellow motif scares the bejeezus out of me as well.

Really well done. Thank you.

Thanks! I'm glad you survived and found it interesting.

The yellow thing had me spinning my head for a while, too. Oh man, poor Sammy. :( I'm putting together the pieces of a Sam's destiny meta, but Thursday's episode needs to air first because I'm probably orbiting Pluto. My meta will likely end up in the garbage. *shakes fists at Kripke* lol

Let's keep our fingers crossed for Sam's sake, shall we?

I did get to the end of this. :) And it was very interesting. It's amazing how many details you don't see when your're watching the episode (or, well, you did, but I didn't), but you'd probably miss them if they weren't there.

Thanks for making it to the end!

Oh, I get easily distracted by the "general scenery" which is why I have to watch it again. Heh, poor me.

This episode really jumped out at me for some reason. I think it was seeing the two worlds side-by-side that made me pay closer attention to the details. Thankfully there was some interesting ones left for us to find.

Thank you! I like to geek out too if you haven't noticed. :) I think film (like writing) is one of those things that's constructed so deliberately, it's just begging for people to pick it apart and draw wild and crazy conclusions. And now at least I can say that my film class in university was useful for something.

Yay! I'm glad.

It's almost Thursday! You lucky person, you'll see it 2 hours before me. Whatever I say or threaten to do, under no circumstances are you to tell me what happens.

Promise! :D And after YOU see it, then we can discuss it in depth!

:) That's assuming I'll be coherent.

Look at my new favorite icon. I'm trying to decide if I should call it "Little photoShop of Horrors" *chokes* or "The Nightmare Before Christmas". It's so distressing I can't stop staring at it! LOL.
