Daniel says I'm being a buzzkill for saying the new Star Trek movie isn't as good as everyone keeps saying. Furthermore, he claims that he can see no cliches in the film. first, you may wanna hide your spoilers behind a lj-cut and warning next time. If there are many people reading this who haven't seen the movie, they may be kinda irked now. BUT! As I said, I didn't see the cliche's because I'd just come home from seeing the movie and usually don't analyze films as I watch em ( ... )

6) I have no choice but to agree with the 'kirk meeting spock by chance' thing, but anyone who knows ST:ToS canon will tell you that scotty was credited with the invention of all things labelled 'transwarp' in the ST universe. The fact that spock would be able to take his future knowledge of scotty's works and essentially hand them to the guy who was credited with inventing them in the first place might be deus ex machina, but it could also be qualified as a mere benefit of having some guy from the future around ( ... )
