The hubbub about Caster Semenya has been percolating at the back of my mind, and today I was reminded again about it because of an email from the National Sexuality Resource Center. I was thinking about this story yesterday, and especially the phrase "unfair advantage," with respect to the idea that Semenya may have a genetic condition that grants her an "unfair" competitive advantage. She is competing with some of the world's greatest living athletes. They all have unfair genetic advantages to one degree or another. That's why they're great athletes. None of them are average. I guess the question is where to draw the "unfair" line. Obviously, all these athletes have an unfair competitive advantage against non-athletes. But the IAAF must be thinking in terms of advantage over other extremely fit and fast women.

Geez, I am just mesmerized by those abdominals.
