Whenever I plan a road trip, I have these complicated ideas for concept mix CDs that I rarely actually finish. This time though, dammit, I am going to finish my Los Angeles/SoCal mix. It will remind me about this loverly region for the brief day that I am away (attending secret nuptials in the City of Sin).

Billy Idol also does a pretty excellent cover of L.A. Woman.

I also say that any California mix has to have Tupac and Dr. Dre's "California Love" on it, but I'm a complete goob.

Maybe I will look up Joel's LA Woman. For some reason, I didn't like the doors version.

California Love...hmm. Well, West Coast Poplock was heavily sampled on California Love (California! Knows how to party...), but perhaps I should look that one up!

There's a cover of it on the soundtrack for Day Without a Mexican which you may or may not like, too. I prefer the original because it's my youth...but still listen to the newer version sometimes.
