PINCERS! *hands*dragged_upJuly 18 2009, 00:53:09 UTC
I think this was probably the most beautiful of the films so far, they've all had their gorgeous bits but I don't remember any of the others being quite this lovely, in an unsettling sort of way.
And OMG BLAISE WAS SO GREAT. I liked how his entire role consisted of sitting there looking unimpressed, it was so perfect. I thought Felton was excellent too, probably the best acting in the entire film (considering that I'm bad at telling these things; on that note, I thought Emma Watson was a lot better than in the past).
Every time Slughorn came on screen I felt vaguely confused because he was so Richard Griffiths in my head that I almost forgot he'd have to be another actor :D;; Broadbent was great and I loved him but it was kind of weird.

PoA is beautiful too, but I found this one moreso. It was much more understated. There were certain shots of Tom Felton's face, for instance, that were very lovely. And I can't get over that shot of the moors; it made me feel weepy it was so gorgeous.
I was impressed with Felton as well; he's got a lot more to do in this film than in the part, and I think he really stood up to the challenge. And agree about Watson too - I liked Hermione finally falling to bits.
He's always been Uncle Monty in my head too, so I had this weird dissonance with him. But I think the film has actually altered my view of the character, which has never happened before.
Can you say 'this' to a whole post? Because THIS THIS THIS.
(Yes it was a tad corny is places and awkward and different from the books... But it was a beautiful film that had me laughing and feeling terrible and I thoroughly enjoyed it. + BLAISE, NGHHH.)
There were so many plotholes and some bits just were not done well (the ending was very disjointed and not emotional enough) and YET. I don't see the HP films as something to tell the stories as such; they're fanworks and I want beauty, and entertaining for a few hours. And it did that! I sat in the cinema and I enjoyed myself! I've never been one of those types of fan who needs to see everything on paper committed to the screen: it's unrealistic, for a start, and unnecessary. And hey, apparently Watchmen was loyal to its material and look what happened there.
It was gorgeous and funny and it made me happy. So there. (And I still can't get over how much I loved Draco nnngh I feel 14 again. I feel so bad for him!)
