Day 01 - A show that never should have been cancelled

Joss Whedon's third television creation, only lasted one season, due largely to Fox network's executive decision to not air episodes in order and move the show's time slot around. However, this show has since gained quite a cult following, performing very well on DVD.
In my honest opinion this show should not have been cancelled for many reasons. The first being that the first season was strong, period. Joss had a momentum from episode one and he kept going with that momentum till the show was inevitably yanked. Another reason why I fancy this show is because of it's complex characters. A good example of this is Summer Glau as River, I wasn't really a fan of her when I started watching, but I was familiar with her work as Tess on The 4400, where she played a schizophrenic who had the power to control people's actions through pheromones. Tess was mildly coherent whereas River wasn't and I have to say I enjoyed River more, in part because I never quite understood River's thought process and I needed to pay attention to understand her.
And last but not least, what more can you want in a science fiction show. It had action, comedy, drama, and a crew of characters that didn't always get along. I would have loved to see a few more seasons of this show at least but alas, Fox manages to cancel everything that I can actually enjoy for multiple seasons. (Hence why I will not watch any of Fox's programming after the cancellation of Dollhouse. Yes that's right Fox, you heard me!)
