I really loved "The Mentalist" episode because it also inserted some commentary on siblings in general - and it was very entertaining. I agree, though, about never seeing enough of what's going on with Sam! To this day, actually. (That's part of why I ended up writing my Sam-in-therapy fic this past summer, "Unresolved." *snort*) I think you're right. Seeing more of how poor his mental health was at that point would have made Dean's choices make more sense.

I, too, actually find much of the wedding episode fun! I just have that little inner "ow" when they diss Becky that hard. I guess being fangirls is so shame-inducing (see the Fangasm book!) that it stings when there's even a hint of our show making fun of fans in a way that could be taken as unkind - kinda like that interrogation of the Metatron fanboy angel this past season.

The Leviathans were a bit of a strange big-bad, but overall I didn't mind them.

I figure it is simply because they have a team of writers, and some of them 'get' Sam and Dean closer to the way the fans do and those episodes are always more satisfying.

But still, I would think the ultimate powers-that-be would proof things to see that the boys aren't written wildly OOC...
