Most succinct recap of the Show I've read. Love it. I should print it out so when I finally do a full rewatch one day I can glance at it first :)
I agree though -- they told John very little before Mary waltzed in. He was likely too dazed to get to ask much. If they had more time you know he would have drilled them much more for answers.
I was slanting it specifically to reflect what the boys might be telling John, so it's not totally complete--Season 3 was all about Sam trying to get Dean out of his deal and that wouldn't have been terribly relevant to John so I skipped that year in the recap...likewise I doubt they would have brought up the fact that they almost closed the gates of Hell and then backed off at the last minute, so that whole arc is not included either. And of course it ends at the start of season 4...
But thank you for appreciating my effort. Even incomplete, it could be a guide for explaining Supernatural to a non-fan...or maybe not...LOL
That's a great list! I'm sure you would've done an excellent job explaining it all to John.
Though Dean is the one who killed Azazel, John had to show up when he did in order to make that possible. And John did disappear after Yellow Eyes was gone, So, this could be why John is saying he did it. He might be speaking in a general sense, not that he was the one who pulled the trigger.
I would put money on Dean not telling his dad that John made a deal to save Dean's life, so my curiosity is how exactly did Dean spin it to make John feel he was a part of ending Yellow Eyes.
I did have fun summarizing the later years. And looking at this makes me realize why I never get too far in explaining the show to people who don't know it...
Maybe Dean left out the part about the deal, and John already being dead. That John made it possible for Dean to kill Yellow Eyes, and then John died. I wish we could ask the writer what they meant, because we can only guess!
Yes, it would be a lot to explain for those who aren't familiar with the show...
