once upon a time: episode 8

Is there a less romance-oriented word for shipping? Because when you say you ship a couple, that gives people certain impression of what you want from writing for that couple, which doesn’t always match what I want to see. I love Emma/Regina, and I’m glad there’s a fanbase for them writing fics and making pretty artses, but a lot of people seem to ( Read more... )

regina/gold, emma swan, once upon a time, queen regina, regina/emma

LJ's ping back bot sent me an email when you posted this saying there was a link to my post in it. HOW WEIRD IS THAT!? What a fantastic new way they have found to pointless eat up server capacity

Lol, that's actually existed for a while, it's not new. I got a pingback a few times- it was either my own link that I'd posted in another comm (you think they'd be able to tell whether the OP was posting that link to pimp their entry, how redundant is it otherwise, ugh) and once it was a link to an entry that was bashing something I'd posted, lol.

IDK, I've met a few nice people when I've linked their posts and they've come to check it out. So it's not entirely horrible.

And I'd rather know if people were saying something about me, only I'm pretty sure that most would f-lock their posts, and obv the pingbot thing doesn't cover those.

We can go with they secretly did. Yeah. Let's go with that. .. They know Evil Charming's to hot for their screen, so they don't show them that much. Totally going with that But yeah, it sucks they didn't show them interacting since he seemed to be helping her. They like using things that should be ours :(

You should write a fic about Regina and David meeting up to discuss campaign strategy? ^_~ Or request it as a prompt or something!

I'm not sure if we'll get much Evil Charming, sadly. Their storylines are too separate atm- if Regina's around, she's gonna be interacting with Emma, Henry and Gold. If David's around, it'll be MM, Kathryn, possibly Emma as Sheriff. But hey, there's always hope, right? *squish*

The word you are looking for is Foeyay

borg_princess January 11 2012, 07:16:00 UTC
OMG. I was looking at that literally a minute ago. have you installed cameras in my brain? I'm loving the tv tropes article on it, so much fun! But boo at the lack of Once Upon A Time. These ladies exemplify the trope!

But...okay, I can never remember the difference, is noun an object and verb a 'doing' word? So foe!yay is a noun, but I'm looking for a verb. If that makes sense. Like, if you 'ship' a couple, that's something you're doing. You can't exactly 'foe!yay' a couple, sounds weird. O.o

PS. I love the quote tv tropes uses for this, from Dollhouse: "Slaves are just slaves, but winning over your enemy - the one person guaranteed to reject everything you are - that's real love. More real than anything up there in the world." Totally see that applying to Regina and Emma!

you are foeyaying

I umm dont know what to make of that quote. it seems tongue and cheek

Hmm. I am foeyaying. It sounds...weird. Oh, well, I've got a term, I'll roll with it. I'll make it work.

Oh, so obv you haven't seen Dollhouse then. YOU SHOULD WATCH IT. Lots of awesome ladies in it.

And that quote isn't tongue-in-cheek at all. I can't describe exactly what's the situation because it's kind of a spoiler, but I mean, they can program people, make them their slaves, and one character is pointing out to another with whom they have constant conflict and tension that it's not a victory if you win over a slave, if they're programmed to love you, where's the challenge? (Shades of Regina/Graham- she may have been content with him, but he wasn't really with her because he wanted her)

*snort* I'm pretty sure I said I wanted someone else to do the hard work? I have no idea how to even start. I'd have to watch a bit of West Wing or something, or just screw realism, lol.

Well, if Gold knows he can play Emma for nobility maybe he can play her like that in the future. He could pull something like I need you to do me a favor, a baby is in danger and have Emma break the law to get him what he wants by playing her like that. Or something closer to her heart like Henry is in danger, you need to help me by covering my breaking the law.

Given that Henry apparently came to town around 8 years ago, grew up, spread Regina hate all over the place but didn't end up destroying Regina, I can see why Regina doesn't immediately jump to the conclusion that Emma can destroy her. She could just be annoying like Henry.

:O I...hadn't thought of that! You are devious! I really like that idea, it would so be Gold's style to exploit her strengths to make it her weakness. I really want this to happen, I like that kind of mindfrak, hee. >:D

Henry's just a kid, though? As he points out, he's not got much power at all. Emma is an adult who is independent and gathering a growing powerbase with more and more support as time goes by. Also, her arrival coincided with that clock starting to move forward, I'm not sure how Regina misses the connection. O.o I just think it's interesting that she'll kill off Graham, despite it hurting her, but leave an annoyance like Emma buzzing around, who keeps tripping her up.
