There is a lake near where I live, and I go walking there everyday. It is a man made lake built in the 1950s by military reservists, probably because they finally got tired of feeling useless. I don't know. Yesterday, I happened to leave later, so it was reaching dusk by the time I was half way. I happened upon a lady, her two children, and their ( Read more... )

We do live in an age where people are becoming anti-social. And I really do mean anti-social. I remember watching a television program that showed children who basically lived in their rooms. It's very true that because we can conveniently do things these days without having to come into contact with people we choose that way instead. After all, communicating with people is a lot of work ( ... )

I can understand what you mean about being shy, I think I am the same way. I just think so much of it is environment. I don't know what Australia is like, but I always envision it as being an open friendly place, where there are a lot of pubs to walk to, and people hang out. People say America is friendly, and the people are, but it doesn't mean they like to hang out...and there are no pubs to walk to in most metro areas. Anyway, it just seems like an awful lot of people at work do not hang out much, or go out, introvert or extrovert, then again, maybe that is just my perception. Work does exhaust people, it seems like even if you have an easy day, they still have a machine that sucks the life out of you, and makes you exhausted when you get home ( ... )

What a lovely story Paul! I don't know what i would do either, though i probably wouldn't call. I guess i would take great care to write the name and number in my address/phone numbers book, then never actually phone. I'm not much of an action person, but i like keeping records of things. Hence my very detailed diaries from a few years back. I'm thinking about starting to keep a diary again...el jay just isn't quite the same...

Also: squeal!! Thora Birch! ^^^ *swoons*

Thanks Gavin! As it turns out I lost her number somehow, but maybe I will run into her at the lake, and things will be awkward. I really have to learn to appreciate awkwardness, becuase it looks like it is moving in to stay.

I used to keep a diary every day, but instead of long entries I tried to write down a sentence that defined the day. It didn't really turn out to well. I always wish I could keep more of a detailed diary, good luck with yours! :)

I just went out a couple of days with a lady from the dominican republic.

Latinamericans are way more open, usually if they are from the opposite sex.

I believe the main problem seems to be, nowadays, that we are taught to devote ourselves to work (Im pretty much amazed almost half of the beautiful girls I work with have no boyfriend because they prefer work)
and to avoid compromise.

With time I have noticed, compromise makes one feel almost nauseated.

It is weird, but I have noticed here in Denmark the lack of compromise in exchange for work.

It is sickening, and Paul, if you want to fullfill your life, you must drop the fear of commitment. (impressed by our social decaying tissues)

I know what you are talking about. People here are exactly the same, it is work and shopping, work and shopping. That is what people do. It makes me think there is some corporate consipracy, but even no corporation is that smart, it is just the way culture is going.

This woman didn't want to date me or anything, I mean she was married and all that. I helped her around the lake, if we had chatted more, or you know "clicked" I definitely would have called. I gave her my number too.

It is funny, I only really thought of the U.S. people being work-aholics, but I see was wrong.
