Thanks. He's still on a high! It was all his original material and the audience laughed at every joke. A few people came up to him and congratulated him afterward. (I really need a helicopter icon here...)

My first MG novel has some humorous bits. I've published humorous poetry for adults. I'd like to write and sell humorous essays for magazines. M and I are going to explore other markets and he's going to look for other standup venues.

Donna Gephart, from Verla's, led a great workshop on tips for writing humour for children. She wrote AS IF BEING 12 3/4 ISN'T BAD ENOUGH, MY MOTHER'S RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, which won the Sid Fleishman award for humour.

Yes! I used to read her columns in women's magazines all the time. Her books were very funny. Erma was an inspiration to a lot of the speakers at the workshop.

Thanks, Robin! I wish you had heard him.

This is the writing-related project that kept us so busy for the past month. He was honing his jokes, memorizing the edited versions, and rehearsing them with me while I timed him. He had three minutes. We didn't want his best joke to be cut off. (He was advised to put the second-best joke first and the best joke last.)
