Nikita Season 1

I have no Nikita icon. :(( This is quite tragic and must be rectified. I'll compensate with Kalinda because those two would be pretty damn ultimate together.

I post to flail briefly about how brilliant the season became... ( since I finally watched all of Season 1 (spoilers within) )

Which Nikita is this? Original or reboot? (I actually haven't seen either so don't know why I'm asking because I'm avoiding the spoilers either way!)

The reboot, in this case. But you are wise to avoid spoilers either way, as they're very suspenseful shows.

With SV gone, I was all, “But where I am going to see such strong women?” and I’ve found my answer in Nikita.

Here in the U.S., they’ve rerun the first two episodes and the Alex/Amanda and Michael/Berkhoff dynamics are already there. I always thought of Amanda and Berkhoff as too dangerous to set loose (though Amanda was more of a loose canon than Berkhoff) and I like that even secondary and tertiary characters get to be strong, complex people in their own right.

Yeah! I have to be honest--I underestimated the show to begin with and never imagined Amanda and Berkhoff would really *develop*, but the seeds were always there, you're right. Amanda did seem more dangerous all along, more of a maverick, but I can 'buy' Percy's blindness about her because I think he was (unconsciously maybe) very scathing of her slavish devotion to him. But she really really hated being locked out of his confidence, and I can buy that--especially as she must feel pissed that Michael (whose loyalty was always more questionable) was his 'right-hand man'. I like the suggestion of sexism in there as well... again, probably unconscious on Percy's part, but he was more comfortable with Michael than with Amanda and I like that he grossly underestimated her. Berkhoff... I don't like, but I do appreciate that he is a coherent character, and also a mix of 'manipulated' and 'defiant' (though it comes out as whine often :p). The power dynamics in this show are really strong! :D

Too few people are aware of the awesomeness of Nikita, I'm glad to see that you are aboard!!!!

:D I am, most definitely! I love it! I underestimated it initially--although I was enjoying the performances of the two lead women, I didn't anticipate the gutsiness of plotting that the show pulled off by the end of season 1. I really admire them for taking the time to build the overall arc there. I'll be recommending it to people, for sure.
