What does Lee know? His 'we both know that's a lie' line could mean he knows that Adama's going to let her out and give her a ship.
Wait til the hosebeasts interpret the scene to mean that Lee presumed Kara was going to be airlocked and couldn't even be bothered to look at her as he left, just out of sheer contrariness ;)

Given my relationship with canon, much though I'd like to accept this scene as a part of it, I can't. The editors made this scene not exist. (But hey, give us some more of that Baltar!Harem sex stuff, because that/s quality essential plot stuff).

I think in another time and place I'd have ended up writing the followup scene to this in my head. Ah well.

My respect for the writers/editors faltered a long time ago. I have no problem revising my/their canon in my own head! :) (Bop knows best! *rampany egotism*) Though truthfully, I like either version of the scene and it's just nice to have two versions of it.

It's nice that this deleted scene isn't like UBEx - it doesn't paint things in a completely different and contrary light, but instead feels like a level of richness added to existing canon.

The two different versions should make for more vidding flexibility - I'm intrigued what m_a_r_i_k_s will make of it, both emotionally and in vid terms.

Yup, there's good stuff for vidders. You don't know how much my fingers are itching to use the Aurora talisman in a vid now... it would have worked so well in Middleman where I drew a lot on other objects of signifcance to Lee.

Oh yeah, this scene is even more meaningful and captivating in it's extended version. The Aurora thing is just wonderful - makes me remember how back in Season 1 Bill gave Kara his last stogy after she came back home safe and then she kept it only to give Lee in The Hand Of God after his mission. :)
Giving each other such talismans seem to have become Adama family tradition :) And I kinda like that Lee didn't know about the fact that his dad gave the stogy to Kara first, just as in this scene he has no clue how Bill got it and that he's closing the circle by giving it back to Kara.

Ohh! Yes! That's a perfect echo of that exchange. And you're right--Lee doesn't know the full significance in either scenario. That makes it purer somehow because it is not contrived.

This was all kinds of schmoopy goodness. I loved it. I agree that the scene was elegantly cut. Though it's a shame because all those little touches that got lost really do enhance the scene in the best of ways. Kara's little nose scrunch was just heartbreakingly adorable. Lee's deep unquestionable faith in her is just devastating. I'm with you, I like the line we got but this is just a bit more powerful ( ... )

. I don't know if we were suppose to take more from that than Lee simply giving her a gift but...well, I really kinda want to.If I trusted the writers these days I would. This scene seems like something from earlier canon in some ways... I'd love to see a Kara fan write about the significance for Kara. I can only guess, but I can see a few added emotional layers ( ... )
